SUMMARY:Giving Tuesday - A Day of Radical Generosity
DESCRIPTION:Join us in creating change toward peace! \n\n\nOn December 2nd\, the world will come together for a day of radical giving known as Giving Tuesday. At Children’s International Summer Villages – Midwest Ohio Chapter\, we know that change starts with people like you. People who have personally experienced or sent their child(ren) to a program like Village\, Youth Meeting\, Step Up\, Fortnight\, Seminar\, and mini-camp.. People who have served as Planners\, Leaders\, Staff\, Junior Counselors\, givers\, and doers for these programs. People who have gained life-long leadership skills from serving on our Junior Branch Leadership Board. People who have engaged in Mosaic\, National Service Projects\, and local service initiatives. People who have volunteered countless hours for an organization they believe provides our community’s youth with the knowledge\, skills\, attitudes\, values\, and belief of a grand concept far greater than themselves. People who are the catalysts of change toward peace! People like YOU! \n\n\nEvery act of kindness\, every dollar\, and every moment of your time brings us closer to achieving our mission of educating and inspiring action for a more just and peaceful world. Together\, let’s transform the world into active global citizens. Together\, we can create a brighter\, more compassionate\, and peaceful world for all. Together\, we will create lasting friendships\, in line with the founding belief that peace is possible through friendship and mutual understanding. \n\nHow you can help power our mission:1. Give: Join the Giving Tuesday movement on December 2nd\, and reimagine a world built upon shared humanity and generosity. Every dollar counts toward our ambitious $5\,000 goal! No gift is too big. No gift is too small. All Giving Tuesday gifts will be earmarked for our 2026 National Chapter Support Fees\, International Membership Fees\, and National Junior Branch Dues which will total $6\,819. In the past\, these costs were passed on to our delegates\, and we would like to end that process.\n2. Ask: Ask your employer if they will match your generosity.\n3. Share: Share our Giving Tuesday campaign with your friends\, family\, and on social media. Your advocacy can amplify our impact.\n4. Volunteer: Your time and skills can make an impact too. We have all sorts of volunteer opportunities for you\, your family\, and your children. Email us at midwestohio@cisvusa.org to learn more!\nThank you for supporting our mission. Your support is invaluable!\n\n\nDonate here

SUMMARY:Delegates! Desserts! Pies! Peacemakers!
DESCRIPTION:Join us at One Lincoln Park’s Oakwood Community Room as we prepare for Summer 2026 programs. This free event is open to the pubic\, and you’ll learn more about CISV as we celebrate our 2025 delegates\, unveil our 2026 program locations\, and enjoy some amazing desserts! Yum!! \n\nSummer 2026 program applications open Nov 17th. Our life changing opportunities are available for youth delegates aged 11-17 and adults leaders aged 21+ upon application and interview process.\n\nJoin us as we explore all the reasons that sending your youth or teen\, or leading a delegation as an adult\, is a worthwhile endeavor for you and your family. \n\n\nCISV provides authentic confidence-building opportunities locally\, regionally\, nationally\, and internationally. We will be exploring these opportunities and their benefits through the eyes of the participants. \n\n\nHere are some compelling reasons to send an 11 year-old to a CISV Village program: \n\n\n**Cultural Understanding & Global Perspective**CISV Village brings together children from multiple countries (typically 8-12 nations) to live together for about four weeks. Your child will form genuine friendships with peers from vastly different backgrounds\, moving beyond stereotypes to see the world through others’ eyes. This isn’t tourism—it’s deep cultural immersion at an age when kids are naturally curious and open. \n\n\n**Independence & Confidence**Living away from home for four weeks\, often in another country\, helps children develop self-reliance and adaptability. They’ll navigate new situations\, solve problems independently\, and discover capabilities they didn’t know they had. Many parents report their children return noticeably more mature and confident. \n\n\n**Conflict Resolution Skills**The program explicitly teaches peaceful conflict resolution through activities and real-life situations. Kids learn to communicate across language barriers\, work through disagreements constructively\, and appreciate different perspectives—skills that serve them throughout life. \n\n\n**Lasting International Friendships**The bonds formed during Village are remarkably strong. Many participants maintain friendships for decades\, creating a personal international network and continued reasons to stay engaged with the world. \n\n\n**Perfect Developmental Timing**Age 11 is ideal—old enough to handle the independence\, young enough to be forming their worldview. They’re at a stage where these experiences can profoundly shape how they see themselves as global citizens. \n\n**Educational Philosophy**CISV focuses on experiential learning rather than lectures. Through games\, activities\, and daily living together\, children naturally absorb lessons about peace\, diversity\, and cooperation.\nThis event is free and open to the public. Bring your favorite dessert to share\, and include ingredient list for potential food allergens. Join us!!

SUMMARY:Winter Mini-Camp
DESCRIPTION:We invite you all (not just those applying for summer programs) to join us as we hold our first mini-camp for the year. Our Junior Branch board members are working hard to plan a mix of educational activities and games. It is sure to be a great time! \n*If you are applying for a summer program (Village\, Youth Meeting\, Step Up\, or Fortnight) as a delegate\, leader\, or staff\, attendance at this mini-camp is mandatory. \n**Anyone applying for a leadership position (staff\, junior staff\, leader\, Junior Counselor\, Fortnight) must plan an activity (roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour long) that they will run with the participants of the mini-camp. The activity should be focused on one or more of our educational content areas and follow the experiential learning cycle (Do\, Reflect\, Generalize\, Apply). The activity will be with youth ages 9-18. If you would like any help or guidance on planning an activity\, please feel free to contact us and we will gladly help you.
